Cloud came to us as an “owner surrender,” a senior horse who had spent his life bringing joy to children and being a steady, gentle presence in their lives. But after years of giving, his tired knees and aching joints were too much for him, and Cloud was set to be euthanized because no one would take him in. His body may have slowed, but Cloud’s heart still has so much love left to give. With your support, we can make sure his final years are filled with love, care, and peace—everything this loyal friend deserves after a life spent giving to others.
When we got the call that Cloud, a senior horse who had spent his life patiently teaching and loving children, was going to be euthanized, one of our Directors couldn’t let it happen. Cloud had been overused and undercared for, his frail body ridden with arthritis, his teeth and feet neglected, his immune system vulnerable without vaccines, and infested with internal parasites. She worked with Cloud’s former owner, mobilized our team, and brought him into the care of PonyUp4Kids.
Our first steps with Cloud were urgent. We brought in Dr. Frederick from Advanced Equine of the Hudson Valley and expert farrier, Pat Shanely, who quickly set to work on his recovery. Shortly after his arrival, Cloud suffered a severe case of choke, a painful and dangerous condition made worse by his neglected teeth. Thanks to the fast actions of Dr. Cooke at New England Equine Clinic and the support of our Director and the Guard family, Cloud made a full recovery.
Now, Cloud is thriving under the love and care he deserves, his days filled with gentleness and compassion. But this level of support comes at a cost. Your donation can help us continue to provide Cloud with the care he needs and ensure that every horse like him has the chance to live out their days surrounded by love.
Today, Cloud is thriving—a happy, healthy senior horse, lovingly cared for by everyone at PonyUp4Kids. But keeping Cloud well-nourished, comfortable, and in good health is a big commitment, and it comes at a significant cost. This is where you come in.
By donating, you’re directly contributing to Cloud’s needs—his specialized nutritional supplies, his regular farrier visits, and his essential veterinary care. Cloud may have been given a second chance, but it’s the support of caring individuals like you that ensures he can enjoy it to the fullest. Every dollar makes a difference in his life, going directly toward giving him the comfort, health, and dignity he deserves.
Cloud has already given so much joy to the children he helped teach and the people lucky enough to know him. With each gentle nicker, he reminds us of his gratitude for this second chapter. With your support, we can continue to make his final years the best ones yet, surrounded by love, care, and peace—everything this loyal friend has earned after a lifetime of giving.
Meet Toby, also known as Perfect Partner—a horse whose gentle spirit and kind heart have brought immeasurable joy and smiles to countless children and families in Dutchess County, NY. Toby is more than just a horse; he’s a beloved friend, a trusted companion, and a symbol of the incredible bond that can form between animals and humans.
For years, Toby has been a fixture in our community, attending local shows, participating in Girl Scout events, marching in parades, and bringing joy to many during community gatherings. His calm demeanor and loving nature have made him a favorite among children, helping them build confidence, learn responsibility, and experience the joy of horseback riding. Toby is not just any horse—he is a perfect partner to everyone lucky enough to meet him.
Now, in his senior years, Toby is living the life he’s earned, enjoying his relaxed routine, still spreading joy to children and families. But like all senior horses, Toby has special needs. He suffers from arthritis, which requires regular veterinary care to keep him comfortable and healthy. He needs ongoing treatments, medication, and careful management to ensure his mobility and quality of life remain good. Toby is also a big boy, and he eats a bale of hay a day, along with other nutritional support to keep his energy up and his weight steady.
This is where YOU can make a real difference.
